AThe social sciences are fields of scholarship that study society
- Anthropology studies human beings and their social
interactions and seeks to explain biological and social characteristics
of people, their customs and beliefs.
- Geography is
a science which explains the complexities of the world's surface
and climate and how people interact with their environment
and build societies.
- Economics describes how societies and people produce,
distribute and consume things and how they make decisions about
the material world.
- History analyzes
records to describe and explain past peoples and their civilizations. Considered
part of the humanities by many, history relies heavily on the
creative as well as the scientific.
- Political science is the study of government and political
processes, ideologies, institutions, and behavior.
- Sociology is the study of human societies, institutions
and relationships.
- Women's studies weave together information from many
different social sciences to describe and analyze issues of women and gender.
