Career and Technical Education

What is CTE?

Career and technical education (CTE) programs prepare students to enter the workforce with the academic and vocational skills needed to compete successfully in the job market.  CTE programs include laboratory simulations and work-based instruction in a hands-on learning environment.

We take pride in providing students with education and training that is affordable, practical and leads to employment.

CTE is a challenging blend of job-related skills and academic skills that serves as an effective springboard for students towards employment.

CTE programs place a heavy emphasis on preparation for work in the industry.  Programs meet regularly with professionals working in the field who advise us of curriculum updates necessary to meet the specific needs of private sector employers.

Students may choose from numerous certificate programs, requiring one-year or less, for entry-level skills in a specific occupation or a two-year degree programs that leads to immediate employment in a skilled and/or paraprofessional occupation.

To be approved and eligible for funding by the state, a career and technical education program must be a wage-earning occupational preparation program identified by a CIP.
