Using ProQuest
What is ProQuest?
ProQuest provides full-text articles and citations from magazine, periodical, journal and newspaper articles in both full-text and citation format. It is one of the main databases to use to locate periodical articles. A good source for nursing and medical periodicals.

Finding Articles
- Type your search terms in the Basic Search box.
- Click Search.
- Click on an article title from the list. You can then copy from the article into a MS Word document, print the article, or email the text to yourself.
- Limit your results by:
- Clicking the box next to Full Text. Only full-text articles will be included in your results.
- Clicking the box next to Scholarly journals. Only articles appearing in scholarly journals will be included in your results. A scholarly journal is more academic and technical. Popular magazines and newspapers are not scholarly journals.
- For more search options, click on the Advanced tab at the top of the page.
- Enter separate terms in each box.
- You may choose different Boolean operators by clicking on the drop down menu next to the box with the word AND in it and changing the operator.
- You can broaden or narrow your search by clicking on the drop down menu next to the box with the words Citation and Abstract in it and changing the option.
- Further options to tailor your search are displayed when you click on the link called More Search Options.
Citing Articles
- Once you have found an article there are several ways to find information for citing your article.
- Click on the title, Abstract, Full text or Full text – PDF then click on the Cite this link along the top.
- Select your Citation style when emailing articles.
