Academic Testing - Proctored Make-up Exams for Instructors

Testing services for faculty include administering makeup exams for the classroom, as well as for Hybrid and Internet courses. It is the instructor's responsibility to complete the appropriate checklist (located at bottom of page) for all tests sent to the Testing Center. Please inform your students that they will be asked to show a valid picture I.D.

General Academic Testing Information

  1. The Academic Testing service offered through the Testing Center is intended only for the following students:
    1. Students who missed their in-class exam due to an emergency, such as an illness.
    2. Students who have a scheduling conflict, such as more than one mid-term on the same day and at the same time.
    3. Students who require test accommodations due to a documented disability (see the Exam Accommodations Manual).
    4. Students who are taking courses through Aims’ Online Campus and Hybrid Classes.

NOTE: Academic Testing in the Testing Center is not to be used as a replacement for in-class exams.
  2. Students must obtain instructor approval to take the test in the Testing Center. The Testing Center must receive a Single Student Testing Checklist (see below) from the instructor before a student can take a make-up exam.

  3. Instructors must use the Group Testing Checklist for all Online or Hybrid classes. This checklist must be accompanied by a class roster.

  4. Students who require accommodations for learning disabilities or other types of disabilities must first go through Disability Access Services (DAS).

  5. All academic testing will be conducted at the Testing Center (CCTR #230) during posted hours. All academic tests must be completed by closing. We will not begin a test within one hour of closing.

Services Not Provided by the Testing Center for Instructors

  1. If an instructor offers a retest for a student or class, it is the instructor’s responsibility to administer the retest.

  2. Instructors who plan on being absent for a test need to arrange for a substitute during that class period.

  3. If Aims Community College is closed during a scheduled exam, the instructor needs to arrange for a different class period to give their test.
