Purpose of Placement
Testing
According to the State of Colorado, all first time degree
seeking students, as well as students seeking select certificates
must be assessed in Reading Comprehension, English and Mathematics.
At Aims Community College, you must complete the Accuplacer
placement exam or secure an Assessment exemption before you
can register for classes (see the Placement
Test section
of the Frequently Asked Questions).
Placement Testing is important because it:
- Provides us information on your current skill
base to determine appropriate course placement.
- Helps us develop an educational plan with you
that is focused on your academic success.
If it is found that you will need remedial/
developmental courses before enrolling in college level Math
or English, you can take those classes at Aims Community
College.
NOTE: You can take similar developmental courses
in other colleges in Colorado.
