* Upon completion of courses marked with an asterisk, further coursework in math requires assessment testing.

     

 

Welding Certificate Program: Welding certificate students must provide proof of meeting assessment requirements or take the Accuplacer. Welding certificate students testing below ENG 090, MAT 090 or REA 090 must co-enroll in appropriate remedial courses along with their Welding courses.

Autobody Certificate Programs: Autobody students must provide proof of meeting assessment requirements or take the Accuplacer. If an Autobody student scores below a 57 on the arithmetic section of the Accuplacer, he or she must be placed in MAT 030. If a student scores below a 62 on the Reading Comprehension section of the Accuplacer, they must be placed in REA 060. No mandatory placement for English.

Automotive Technology  Certificate Programs: Automotive Technology students must provide proof of meeting assessment requirements or take the Accuplacer. Students testing into ENG 030, MAT 030 or REA 060 must co-enroll in remedial courses along with their Automotive Technology certificate courses.

Criminal Justice - The Peace Officer Academy: Peace Officer Academy students must provide proof of meeting assessment requirements or take the Accuplacer. However, POA students do not need to complete remedial course work.

CNA: Certified Nurse Aide candidates must take the Accuplacer Reading Comprehension exam and must receive a score of 62 or higher in order to qualify for CNA classes.

Certificate Programs that are EXEMPT from Placement Testing:

  • Fire Science Academy
  • Nuclear Medicine
  • Mammography

How to Meet Assessment Requirements:

    • Show proof of successful previous college experience at an accredited college. Students who have successfully completed (C- or higher) a college-level mathematics and writing course within the past ten years from a regionally accredited institution will be exempt from taking the Accuplacer Placement test. or
    • Show proof of minimum ACT scores of 18 in English, 19 in Math (for certain courses), and 17 in Reading, or
    • Show proof of minimum SAT scores of 440 in the verbal area (for English), 430 in the verbal area (for Reading) and 460 in the math area, or
    • Take College Board's Online Accuplacer Placement test. Knowledge of computers is not necessary to take the test. It is administered untimed. No student calculators allowed.
    • NOTE: ACT, SAT and Accuplacer scores must be no more than five years old.
