Construction Updates
May 2011
- College Center Phase 2 – Horizon Hall Remodel
Horizon interior is complete. Landscaping and irrigation are expected to be completed by the middle of May. Classes will start in the new Horizon on May 23.
January 2011
- College Center Remodel
The College is working with the United States Green Building Council to complete final submittals (due January 14th) to achieve LEED Certified status.
- College Center Phase 2 – Horizon Hall Remodel
The interior walls are taped and finish coats are being applied. Flooring materials will be installed in the coming weeks along with ceiling grid and the new mansard panels (steep angle of the roof). Project is on schedule to be completed by the end of the spring semester.
- Purchasing/Receiving/Facilities Parking lot/Safety/Drainage Improvements
Design is under review and project is scheduled for spring 2011.
- Beaty Hall Roof Replacement
Design is under review and replacement is scheduled for the summer of 2011.
December 2010
- College Center Remodel

A new roof, roof top mechanical units and new windows are installed. Interior walls are installed and exterior seating areas and walkways are nearing completion. Project is on schedule to be completed by the end of the spring semester.
- Beaty Hall Roof Replacement
Design is under review and replacement is scheduled for the summer of 2011.
October 2010
- College Center Phase 2 – Horizon Hall Renovation
Work progresses and recently the pre-fabricated concrete Colonnade was installed giving a whole new look to the building particularly the south side. In addition, outdoor seating areas have been excavated and concrete poured. The interior is progressing with the installation of metal studs to support new walls. Please be aware the excavation in this area continues so light poles may be intermittently disconnected to avoid accidental contact with exposed wires. Construction is still on schedule for completion at the end of the spring semester.
- General Services
Remodeling of space for Early Childhood Education is now complete. Minor remodeling to accommodate services moving within the building has started. The services moving within the building include Financial Services, PIO, a portion of Institutional Research/Effectiveness and a portion of Information Resource Management.
A replacement air handler unit is scheduled to be installed on the roof of the building in the next month or so.

August 2010
- College Center Remodel
The remodeling of
the College Center is complete. Facilities
personnel are making adjustments to the building’s operating
systems and working with the contractor to correct punch list
items inside and outside of the building.
The moving of personnel
is also complete and final orders are being placed for signage
and furniture. The delivery
of these items is expected to occur over the next two months.

- College Center Phase 2 – Horizon Hall Renovation
Demolition
work is nearing completion and work has begun related to the
building’s foundation. The completion
date at this time is scheduled for April 1, 2011.
- General Services Remodel
Minor remodeling
is underway to restore spaces to meet academic needs. Early Childhood Education and Intensive English
will be housed in General Services once remodeling is complete. The
next phase of remodeling will begin in late August in preparation
for internal moves of personnel in Administrative Services,
PIO and IRE. The plan is to complete the moves at the end of
the first week of October.
- Retro Commissioning – Beaty Hall
A
complete analysis of the building operating systems supporting
Beaty Hall is complete. An action plan to identify priorities
is under development and will begin implementation this fall
to improve the efficiency of the systems and reduce energy
consumption. The
cost to conduct the retro commissioning project will be reimbursed
by the Colorado Department of Local Affairs Energy/Mineral
Impact Assistance Program.

July 2010
- College Center
Occupancy of the College Center is nearing completion with
the last group scheduled to move in July 9th. The plan is
to re-open the Bistro once final approval from the Weld
County Health Department is achieved. It is anticipated
the approval will occur during the latter part of July. Landscaping
continues and is expected to be complete by the end of July. The
new parking lot is complete and open for parking. Sod
will be installed around and in the detention pond once the
area is completely dry.
- Phase 2 College Center/Horizon Hall Renovation
Demolition has begun and construction staging is in process. This
project is scheduled for completion prior to the summer term
2011.

June 2010
- College Center
The interior of the building is about 95% complete and furniture
is beginning to be installed. Occupants will begin to
move in the week of June 21st and the move in is scheduled
to be complete by July 16th. Site work continues including
concrete and landscaping. The new parking lot will be
striped during the next week and should be opened for parking
very soon. In addition, a new walk way is being constructed
from 20th street through the new parking lot and connecting
with the College Center walkway.
- College Center Phase 2/Horizon Renovation
Demolition is scheduled to begin the week of June 7th. Please
be aware of construction activity in the areas around Horizon
and at the intersection of Horizon Road and Westview Lane. Construction
is scheduled to continue through May 2011.
March 2010
- College Center Remodel
Walls are up and in some cases the first coat of paint has
been applied. The dining addition is complete and kitchen
equipment is being installed. The exterior structure (colonnade)
is up, along with retaining walls as site work continues. The
new parking lot is ready for pavement however, it will be a
month or so before the asphalt plant opens and can provide
asphalt to the project. The project is scheduled for
completion at the end of May and the Relocation Task Force
will convene soon to start the process of developing
the re-occupancy schedule. The furniture package is being finalized.
- College Center Remodel Phase 2 – Horizon
Hall Renovation
The project is in the design development stage. The renovation
will consist of eight new shared classrooms, group study rooms,
student and faculty break areas, storage, space for future TRIO
needs along with a number of faculty/staff/adjunct offices. The
scope of work includes new mechanical, electrical, window and
roof systems. It is anticipated that the renovation will
begin in late May 2010 and be complete by the end of May 2011.
- Public Service Institute (T&I)
Minor remodeling has occurred in this building to accommodate
Fire Science and temporary locations for those vacating Horizon
while the renovation occurs. Major construction related
to this building is on hold per the Board of Trustees.
- Signage Master Plan – Phase
1
Progress is being made to develop an exterior signage package
for the buildings on the Greeley campus. It is anticipated
that the exterior signs will be installed by the beginning
of the fall 2010 semester. The goal ( as funding is available)
is to provide a monument type sign at each of the campuses
buildings and provide a directional marquee at each entrance
to the campus.
- Cat Building Relocation Project
A Relocation Task Force has been assembled to develop a moving
schedule for the contents at the Ft. Lupton CAT building. The
plan is to relocate items from this building to the Automotive
and Technology Center and Hansen building at the conclusion
of the spring 2010 semester.
- Key Card (Smart Card) Access System
Buildings on the
Greeley campus are being retro fitted with an electronic access
system which will use a Smart Card for after hour access when
the buildings are secure. After hour access
is defined as 10:00 p.m. through 6:00 a.m. Mondays through Friday,
weekends and holidays. A Smart Card reader will be located
at the main entrance of each building. The Smart Card will
be a combination of full-time employee ID badge and a key card.
Swiping of the Smart Card will not only provide access to the
building but will unarm the security system. Stay tuned
for information about Smart Card check out procedures and training.
The Loveland and Downtown campuses already have key card access
systems.
January 2010
- Automotive and Technology Center
Occupancy
of the new building began on December 14th. The moving in process
is nearing completion in time for the return of students for
the spring semester. Please feel free to visit the new building.
- College Center Remodel
Walls are going up
and the interior spaces are beginning to take form. The parking
lot paving was delayed due to inclement weather. The
paving is scheduled to begin in mid-March. Exterior features
including hardscaping continues. The project is on track
to be complete in mid-May 2010.
- College Center Remodel Phase
2/Horizon Hall
Programming
of the building is complete with design development scheduled
to begin in late January. The plan is to have construction
documents complete by early April and start actual construction
as soon as the College Center main remodel ends. Some
minor preparation of Horizon for construction will begin in
early May 2010.
- T&I
The T&I building is cleaned
and minor cosmetic work has progressed to make this space ready
for the Wild Land Academy and Fire Science programs. Major
remodeling is on hold until the decision is made by the Board
of Trustees to proceed.
- Berthoud
The selection of an
architectural firm for the new campus is on hold until a decision
is made by the Board of Trustees to proceed.
