Nominated by: Jeremy Rottini, Advisor
Date Nominated: 09/21/2009

Barbara Crane and the Disability Access Center became a part of the SSC this past June. Since the move, I’ve had the opportunity to observe her work ethic and dedication to students. Often, she leaves the office well after the SSC has closed and it is a rarity to see her without mounds of work in her arms to take home. I have been overwhelmingly impressed by her dedication to students. The majority of students Barbara works with on a daily basis require not only attention to copious amounts of paperwork, but also attention to making each individual student feel valued, supported by the institution, and confident that, despite having a documented disability, they can and will succeed in accomplishing their educational goals. I have never seen Barbara say no to a student in need. She always finds a way to work a walk-in student into her incredibly busy schedule each and every time. I can also say from an instructor’s perspective that I’ve heard nothing but positive things about her from my students who have had the opportunity to work with her. All in all, she exemplifies what it means to be “student centered” and is a valued member of our SSC team.
