Aims Community College invites the community to attend a grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration for the new Automotive and Construction Technology building, located at 575 McKinley Ave., on Nov. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. The newly remodeled facility houses the latest technology for the automotive and construction programs in Fort Lupton. "We are so excited to launch both of these programs in Fort Lupton,” said Associate Dean Karen Sell. "We want everyone in the community to come out and see what they or their children have access to now. The equipment is so cutting-edge, it's very impressive." A grant from the Department of Labor made it possible for Aims to bring the automotive technology program to Fort Lupton and equip it with the industry's latest technology available, including more than $80,000 in diagnostic tools and simulators. In addition to offering classes to the general public, Aims is working with local high schools to provide dual-credit classes for students who already know they'd like to pursue a career in automotive or construction technology. Several certificate programs are available, leading to an associate degree in Automotive or Construction technology. Tours and demonstrations will be provided by the Aims instructors along with food, refreshments and door prizes, including free oil changes and tire rotations. Members of the Fort Lupton Chamber of Commerce will also be on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Contact Karen Sell at or 303-857-4022 for more information.
