Aims Online Director selected as Technologist of the Year

Jean Otte, Director of Online Learning at Aims Community College, was named the 2011 eLearning Technologist/Support Person of the Year at the 22nd annual eLearning Consortium of Colorado conference held April 13-15 at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Colorado Springs. Otte's nomination stated that she "…has been a leader in the field of online learning for over 20 years through her professional positions at Aims and through her work as a member and leader of the eLearning Consortium of Colorado. Jean is an advocate for quality online learning and is an asset to the field." At Aims, she has explored and shared how emerging technologies can be leveraged to support teaching and learning as an instructional designer, video/media producer and a faculty member in Communications Media. She is the facilitator for the class Teaching and Learning Online and an introductory workshop, Introduction to Aims Online. Otte is a long-time member of the eLearning Consortium of Colorado and currently serves as co-chair. The nomination also noted that Otte doesn't hesitate to share her expertise in the field and makes a concerted effort to reach out to policy leaders to keep members abreast of important policy considerations and changes related to online learning. The eLearning Consortium of Colorado is a coalition of public and private colleges, universities, K-12 education, private sector business and public television stations dedicated to the enhancement of educational opportunities through distance learning.
