College For Kids offers educational summer fun

Submitted on: 05-08-2012

This summer marks the 32nd year that Aims Community College will offer second through seventh graders a sampling of what it’s like to go to college. College For Kids will be held for two consecutive weeks, June 4-7 and June 11-14.

This year features several career pathways, and options include Video Game Design, Videography, Photography, Computer Animation, Crazy Science, and Arts and Crafts. Students can choose two classes each week (one in the morning, one in the afternoon).

“We really enjoy having the young kids on campus and seeing how much fun they’re having while they’re learning,” said Program Coordinator John Dixon. “They get familiar and comfortable with coming to Aims, and it piques their interest in college.”

Classes are held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Children may be dropped off at 7:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 4 p.m. Cost is $180 per week and includes lunch.
