If I have been laid off, how can you help me? Can I get help as a community member?

On a daily basis, we talk to people in the middle of career transitions and changes. Whether you are a current student looking for that first career choice, have been laid off, or are looking for a career change, we would welcome the chance to talk with you about the transition. Our goal is to “shepherd you through the process” with strategies, structure, and information. If you are not a current student, you can access the same services, although there will be a $50 fee, paid at the time of the appointment. Contact Career Services at (970) 339-6251.

What kind of Career Assessments do you offer?

We have a variety of Career Assessments in our “career toolbox”. Depending the type of information we are trying to generate with you, we can look at interest, personality, skills, or aptitude fit to the world of work. Career assessments are not the “gospel truth”, but rather generators of information and ideas that can provide useful pieces of information in the career decision-making process.

Can I get help choosing a major? I have a major selected, but I am not sure what careers it can lead to.

Absolutely. As you invest in your education, it is a good idea to know why you are in college taking classes. Many students will come in saying “I’ve always been interested in Biology (or any other area), what sort of careers could I get into”.

Try http://www.unco.edu/careers/students/major-planning/WhatCanIDoInfo/index.html for a quick look at career titles related to certain majors. For more in depth exploration call (970) 339-6251 to make an appointment to meet with a career counselor.
