Does Aims offer on line ECE courses?At this time no ECE courses are available. If you desire this course of study you will need to enroll at another Colorado community college. You can do this on line thorough the following website: http://www.ccconline.org

I want to be a licensed to provide child care in my home. Is this the training I need?We recommend you call United Way of Weld County 970.353.4300. They can provide the information you need for becoming a licensed family child care provider. Our ECE classes can enhance that training and serve as continuing education for you.
The training for a specialized family child care home license for caring for three infants under the age of two is ECE 111 Infant and Toddler Theory and Practices.

Later on I plan to be an elementary school teacher. Will my education with you transfer to a 4-year institution?Our Associate of Applied Science is a career degree, rather than a transfer degree and is not designed to transfer to a four-year institution.
In our program, you receive two years of specialized training that focuses on early childhood care and development along with a few general education courses.
A state-wide articulation agreement is in progress for a transfer degree in early childhood education.

My director wants me to be qualified to fill in for her when she is away form the Center. What do I need to accomplish this?You need to be Director qualified according to the Colorado Department of Human Services, Office of Child Care. The requirements include the courses listed in our Director Certificate plus 1960 hours of verifiable experience working with young children.

I work as a teacher's aid now, but I would like to move up to be the lead teacher in the classroom What do I need to do?The Colorado Department of Human Services, office of Child Care calls that “Group Leader Qualified.” There are several ways to become group leader qualified; one way is by completing the courses listed in our Group Leader Certificate and having 9 month experience in group care of children.

I took some classes at another college. Will any of those credits transfer here?It is wise to request an official transcript from you other college to be transferred to Aims Community College. The transcript will be reviewed and credit may be given for the appropriate courses offered at Aims. We suggest meeting with an early childhood advisor. Please bring your syllabi and /or course description to facilitate this process.

Do you offer the Expanding Quality in Infant Toddler Care training?Yes, this comprehensive 48 hour training is our ECE 111 Infant Toddler Theory and Practice course. Successful completion of the training requirements earns participants the Colorado State Certificate.
This course meets the training requirements specific to infant nursery supervisor (additional experience is necessary) and the specialized family child care licenses. The training is offered for no charge. However, if you wish to earn Aims College credit you must enroll in ECE 111 and pay applicable tuition and fees.
