Do I have to log in when I go to the Learning Commons?To log into the computers, type in the word student. There is now password.

Can I print in the Learning Commons?Yes; The GoPrint system charges 10 cents per page or 16 cents for both sides of a two-sided page (saving 4 cents each page). See staff for help to print both sides in a document (duplex).

Can I print in color?Yes. Color prints cost $.50 per page in the GoPrint system.

Is there a time limit on how long I can use a computer?No; however, computer use will be dependent upon open hours and availability.

I need to work on a specific software program (e.g. Access, Dark Basic, etc.). Is there anyone at the Learning Commons who can help me?Most likely. Staff members are familiar with a wide variety of software. Many of our staff have either taught at Aims or completed technical and academic courses at Aims as a student.

What version of Microsoft Office do you have?We have Microsoft Office 2010. We also have a few computers with Microsoft Office 2007. Ask the staff to assist you if you need to convert files from a different format or save to an earlier version.

Do you have wireless Internet capability?Yes.

Do you have textbooks I can use?Yes, we have many of the required textbooks available for a 2-hour check out. Your student ID card is required. Visit the Kiefer Library website for additional information.

Do you have a copier?Yes. There are student-use copiers which cost 5¢ a copy. No duplexing (two-sided) copying available.

Do you have a scanner?Yes. Our scanners are equipped with optical character recognition, where text can be scanned directly into a document and edited.

Do you have any MAC machines?Yes. We have four iMAC computers on the Greeley campus and one each on the Loveland and Fort Lupton campuses.

Do I have to be an Aims student to use the Learning Commons?No. Any member of the community is allowed to use many of the services of the Learning Commons, though students and faculty are given priority. Let a staff member know that you are a community user and they will help you obtain a library card or access the computers.

Do I have to go to the Learning Commons on the campus where I attend classes?No. You can visit any of the three Learning Commons locations.

Do you have laptops and other electronic devices available for check-out?Yes. We check out laptops and Nooks only to current Aims students. You will need to present your Aims ID card (not just the A#). Check out is for 7 days. Fees will be assessed if the device is returned late.

What is necessary to check in to drop-in tutoring?Drop-in tutoring (no appointment necessary) is available to currently enrolled Aims students. Students will need to have their Aims ID # to check in for drop-in tutoring. Subjects, hours, and locations of tutoring can be found on our Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction page.
