Printer Friendly Version

Submitted on: 10-31-2007

The two newest buildings at Aims Community College will be open to the public for tours and an inside look at the latest technology available for the classroom on Nov. 7 from 3:30 to 7 p.m. The open house celebration will include ribbon cutting ceremonies between 5 and 5:30 p.m., beginning at the Aviation building, then moving to the Allied Health and Sciences building.

The 68,000-square-foot Allied Health and Sciences building serves students taking nursing, surgical technology, radiological technology, emergency medical services, medical assisting, chemistry, biology, physics, and anatomy and physiology classes. It features state-of-the-art technology in laboratories, classrooms, offices and common areas. The building design includes cutting-edge laboratories that simulate real-life working environments, such as an emergency room X-ray labs and the back of an ambulance. The labs are equipped with robotic patient simulators that can be programmed to react like real patients in real emergency situations.

The 8,100-square-foot Aviation building includes two flight simulator labs, classrooms, faculty offices, student common areas and room to expand the program, possibly with the addition of an Air Traffic Controller program, which the college is currently investigating the feasibility of offering.

Light refreshments will be provided. For more information contact Stacey Coffman at (970) 339-6556 or Stacey.coffman@aims.edu.
