Aims Aviation department invites the public to spread its wings
Printer Friendly Version Submitted on: 10-31-2007
Aims Community College is offering the public a chance to find out what it's like to fly an airplane or a helicopter at the Aviation department's open house. Bring the whole family to the Greeley-Weld County Airport on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., for the Aviation department's open house celebration.
Visitors can take to the big blue with one of Aims' Flight Instructors in a three-passenger Cesna 172, Cesna 182 or Piper Seminole, or take a flight with a helicopter pilot in a Schweizer 300. Participants will have the opportunity to take the controls in-flight if they would like.
Airplane rides cost $10 per person for a 20-minute ride, and helicopter rides are $100 for 20 minutes. Test runs on a helicopter simulator will be available for a small fee, and airplane flight simulators will be available free of charge.
There will be aviation and aerospace activities designed especially for children, along with tours of the facilities and an opportunity to meet the Aims Flight Team and learn more about enrolling in the programs.
Prizes will be offered, and food and beverages will be available for purchase.
