Submitted on: 04-28-2008

Aims Community College has established the Teresa L. Brown Memorial Scholarship to provide tuition to students in the Weld County High School Diploma Program who would otherwise not receive funding.

Brown graduated from Fort Lupton High School and earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in education from the University of Northern Colorado. Her teaching career started in Grover before she spent 18 years teaching English, Spanish, drama and guidance counseling in Briggsdale. She then became a facilitator for the High School Diploma Program, housed at Aims Community College's Continuing Education division in Greeley. Brown believed strongly in providing opportunities for at-risk students and the importance of earning a high school diploma.

She died on Oct. 12, 2007, due to injuries sustained in an accident at the intersection of Colo. 392 and Weld County Road 43.

Memorial gifts can be made by contacting the Aims Foundation at 339-6583 or by sending an e-mail to julie.buderus@aims.edu.
