Aims and Employment Services join forces to launch new energy-based job-training program

GREELEY – In recent news, business and government leaders have identified Northern Colorado as an emerging leader in the development of new energy sector jobs. Aims Community College and Employment Services of Weld County have teamed up to develop a program that will produce graduates who are highly qualified to fill positions in electric, oil and gas, solar, wind and geo-thermal industries. The Multi Industry Systems Technician, or MIST program, provides training to students who are interested in careers in the burgeoning energy sector. Students can earn MIST certificates in one or two semesters. Entry-level jobs in the industry are at about $34,000. Because the program is funded by a Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) grant from the U.S. Department of Labor*, costs for the program including tuition, lab fees and books may be covered by Employment Services of Weld County.
