Submitted on: 03-02-2009

Aims Community College English Professor Chuck Fisher recently published the textbook " Researching and Writing about Controversies." The text teaches students to appreciate the power and beauty of language, think carefully and deliberately about writing, and experience the deep satisfaction of having written well.

Using the Four C's of good writing, "Researching and Writing about Controversies" illustrates how curiosity, commitment, credibility and clarity are central to communicating effectively. Fisher is donating 10 percent of royalties from the sale of the text to the Dorothy Stewart Writing Award, awarded annually at Aims to a student exhibiting excellence in writing; and 10 percent to Habitat for Humanity.

The text is published by Bent Tree Press, ISBN: 978-1-60250-188-1.
