Early Childhood Education- Mission

Early Childhood Education Program Mission Statement

The Aims Community College Early Childhood Education (ECE) program provides comprehensive educational opportunities for students to develop entry level skills, to upgrade abilities needed for career advancement, and to complete coursework required for transfer into a baccalaureate degree program. High quality coursework delivered with integrity by professional, caring faculty and staff leads to earned certificates and associate's degrees. The ECE program partners with child care providers, agencies and professional organizations to enhance the quality of care offered to children and to support child care providers with ongoing professional development.

The framework that guides the ECE program is rooted in developmentally appropriate practice with children and adult learners; including being an intentional teacher, creating a community of learners, teaching to enhance development and learning, planning curriculum to achieve important goals, assessing children's development and learning and establishing reciprocal relationships. The program recognizes diverse learning styles and provides supportive and flexible learning environments where student success is of primary importance.
