Students complete HPR 190 Basic EKG 2 credits and HPR 200 Advanced ECG Interpretation 2 credits in the classroom. The final course is HPR 180 EKG internship 2 credits. The internship takes place in the cardiac department of a clinic or hospital where students gain first hand experience completing 12 lead EKG tests, treadmill testing, event monitoring, etc..
Upon completion of the certificate, students are eligible for hire in an EKG department. This certificate is also a strong addition to the EMT Basic Certificate, Medical Assisting or Phlebotmy Certificate.
Students planning to further their career into Paramedic Certification should plan to complete this certificate.
