EMT Intravenous Therapy Orientation
EMT Intravenous Therapy - Program Overview
This class is designed to assist students in building the hands-on skills needed to:
- Successfully start an IV
- Develop decision-making skills critical in IV therapy
Students practice IV skills on each other in class and then complete an 8-hour clinical (minimum). In order to qualify for state certification as an EMT-IV, students must complete 4 successful IV sticks on a patient in a clinical setting. The instructor-to-student ratio utilized in this program helps to ensure that safety standards are met and provides the one-on-one attention that is needed to learn this skill.
Students must be currently certified in CPR and as a Colorado EMT before they will be signed off to register for the class.
Supplies for the EMT-IV program can be purchased at the Aims Bookstore, medical stores, or various department/discount stores throughout the area.
Supplies:
- Textbooks
- One box of gloves (Latex free)
