Before students will be allowed to take FST 100 and 170, they must demonstrate that
they have the physical ability to complete the skills required in the Fire Academy.
Students can meet this requirement by providing proof of one of the following:
- Successfully completing a certified Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT)
- Documenting another comparable Physical Agility Test within 12 months of the start
date of the Fire Academy.
- Making an appointment with the CPAT Coordinator to schedule a practice session for
CPAT and demonstrate your ability to pass the test (students will not receive an official
- Successfully completing FST 160 within 12 months of the start date of the Fire Academy.
Students will be allowed to register for FST 100 and 170 prior to providing proof
of the above, but will be dropped the first day of class if they fail to provide the
required documentation to meet the prerequisite requirement.
