Expiration and Transfer Policies for ADN Coursework

• BIO 201 (Anatomy Physiology I with a lab - 4 credits), 202 (Anatomy Physiology II with a lab - 4 credits), and 216 (Pathophysiology - 4 credits), or acceptable substitutes must from regionally accredited institutions and must be no greater than 7 years old at the time the applicant enters the Nursing Program. A grade of "C" or better must have been earned.
  
  
• BIO 105 w/ lab, or an acceptable substitution: BIO 106 w/ lab, BIO 111 w/ lab, CHE 101 w/ lab, CHE 111 w/ lab, or possibly others such as microbiology) may be greater than seven years old. A grade of “C” or better must have been earned.
  
  
• Applicants to the nursing program should be advised that should they decide to pursue a BSN at a university, they may be required to take an additional science course. Students will need to check with the transferring institution(s) for specific information and requirements.
  
  
• Applicants who have not previously taken BIO 105, or an acceptable substitute, but have already completed BIO 201, BIO 202, and/or BIO 216 must take an additional four-credit hour science course prior to the beginning of second year of the Nursing Program. This course can be BIO 105, but Microbiology or Chemistry would be a better recommendation if the applicant is contemplating pursing a BSN in the future.
  
  
• HPR 108 (Nutrition), or an acceptable substitute, must be no greater than 7 years old at the time the applicant enters the Nursing Program.
  
  
• MAT 103 (Math Clinical Calculations) must be no greater than 3 years old at the time the applicant enters the Nursing Program.
  
  NOTE: An applicant wishing to transfer Math 103 must score 93% on a competency test administered by the Nursing Department. If the applicant does not score 93% on the competency test, he/she will be required to retake Math 103.
  
  
• Regarding transfer students, nursing courses (those with a NUR prefix) must receive approval by the Associate Dean/DNEP of Nursing before being transferred in. It will be a rare exception that NUR courses greater than one year old will be considered for transfer.
  
  NOTE: Licensed Practical Nurses applying to the Associate Degree Nursing Program have different criteria for transferring in nursing classes.
  
  
• All state and college policies regarding transfer of credit as outlined in the College Catalog also apply.
