Associate Degree
in Nursing
General Education Requirements
The current General Education Requirements for the
Nursing Program are classes that must be taken prior
to being considered for the Nursing program from
a regionally accredited institution of higher education. GPA
must be a minimum 2.5 or better in the listed
courses below AND all general education coursework
must be completed with a grade of “C” or
better.
Current General Education Coursework for
Associates Degree in Nursing for Fall 2009:
- ENG 121 English Composition (3 credits)
- PSY 235 Human Growth and Development (3 credits)
- BIO 105: Science of Biology (with lab, 4 credits);
or Bio 106 Basic Anatomy and Physiology (with
lab, 4 credits); or Bio 111 General College Biology
I (with lab, 5 credits)—prerequisite course
which must be taken prior to Bio 201; OR acceptable
substitution*.
- BIO 201 Anatomy and Physiology I (with lab, 4
credits)
- BIO 202 Anatomy and Physiology II (with lab,
4 credits)
- **BIO 216 Pathophysiology (4 credits)
NOTE: Pathophysiology from University
of Northern Colorado will be an acceptable transfer
see below for further explanation.
*In the event an applicant has
completed BIO 201, BIO 202, and/or Bio 216 without
completing BIO 105 (or equivalent), the applicant
may be considered for admission but will be REQUIRED to complete an additional approved four-credit
hour science course before proceeding to the second
year of the Nursing Program.
**In the event the applicant has
taken an approved three credit hour Pathophysiology
course, an additional approved science course must
be completed prior to progressing to the second year
of the Nursing Program. No exceptions
will be allowed.
- Biology (BIO) courses (specifically Bio 201,
202 and 216) must be no older than 7 years. Biology
courses (201, 202, and 216) expire 7 years after
completion.
- GPA must be a minimum 2.5 or better in the listed
courses above. Courses listed above must
have a minimum grade of “C”.
