Visual and Performing Arts
Ed Beaty Hall, Room 540 In the study of design and the arts, students may work to deepen their understanding of human expression and invention, to strengthen their sensory skills, to develop creative thinking abilities, and to create their own unique expressions, images, or objects. Some transfer-level courses may be taken as general education requirements; others serve as electives within the program, or as course work toward a four-year program in design, visual arts or music. Students are also able to take these courses for personal enrichment. The degree in visual and performing arts can be used for transfer to a four-year institution. The music degree will assist students pursuing music performance or music education. The art degrees will assist students pursuing studio art or design concentrations at the four-year institutions. Students should review the four year institution that they wish to transfer to in order to select the courses appropriate to their future study.
