Classroom/Computer Labs
|
The CIS/CSC classrooms at Aims Community College are state of the art
both from the
standpoint of the computer hardware and from the software used by
students in the
various classes throughout the curriculum. The classroom computer
systems are updated religiously, with completely new systems added
to the labs on a rotational basis.
There is a firm commitment by Aims Senior Management and
the CIS/CSC Faculty to provide the absolute latest technology for
our students.
There are four labs with three located in Ed Beatty Hall and the
fourth, the special "Networking Lab", located in the College
Center. |
 |
Networking Lab
|
| This lab is unique in that it allows students to actually learn networking by doing all the task network analysts would be expected to perform within the technology arena. Skill sets will include multi-platform installation, user configurations, printer configurations, user groups, policies, security, and troubleshooting. Because of the hands-on experience they gain at Aims, students graduating with Networking certificates are ready to go into the real world as functioning IT professionals.

 |
Lab Flexibility
|
| The rapidly changing technology dictates that the CIS/CSC department
keep pace with
this change. To maximize classroom flexibility, the department uses
replaceable
hard disk drives in most classrooms to enable the use of various operating
systems,
server software, scripting engines, and programming language software.
The CIS/CSC
faculty and Aims IT staff work hand in hand to create the environments
necessary to offer students experience in platforms and software not
generally available in other Community Colleges throughout the state. |
