Database Administration Certificate

The database administration certificate consists of 3 core classes and 4 area specific classes. Students will learn to use the small business database Access. CIS-145 & CIS-146 explore Access in its entirety starting with data manipulation through database design and VB for Applications. CIS-240 and CIS-244 cover database design and development, using Oracle 9i SQL through PL/SQL programming and decision making.

CIS 124 Intro to Operating Systems Introduces the student to Windows and command line topics. 3 Can be taken in conjunction with CSC116 and CIS118 Syllabus
CSC 116 Logic and Program Design This is the entry level programming class. The student is introduced to computer program design using concepts of structured programming and logic. 3 Can be taken in conjunction with CIS124 and CIS118 Syllabus
CIS 145 Complete PC Database The foundation database course introducing the student to basic database concepts involving tables,fields, records, querys, forms and reports. 3 There are no prerequisites for this course. Syllabus
CIS 146 Database Application Development: Access This course covers database creation, advanced queries, advanced form objects, Macros, switchboard, VB for Applications and security. 3 CIS145 Syllabus
CIS 240 Database Design and Development This course introduces the student to basic relational database concepts, SQL, data storage and retrieval using Oracle 9i. 3 CIS146 Syllabus
CIS 244 SQL PL/SQL This course provides a detailed introduction to SQL and the PL/SQL language using Oracle 9i. 3 CIS146 Syllabus
