Certificate Description
Database AdministrationThe database administration certificate consists of 3 core classes and 4 area specific classes. Students will learn to use the small business database Access. CIS-145 & CIS-146 explore Access in its entirety starting with data manipulation through database design and VB for Applications. CIS-240 and CIS-244 cover database design and development, using Oracle 9i SQL through PL/SQL programming and decision making.
Game ProgrammingThis curriculum introduces the student to the exciting world of Game Programming. The student will learn all of the traditional programming concepts, but with an emphasis in Game Programming and game development.
Network AnalystThe network curriculum at Aims is comprised of four classes covering the key areas and topics of computer inter-connectivity. The students will be exposed to the entire arena of networking concepts from basic terminology, specifications, and installation/configuration to upgrading, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Object Programming The Object Programming curriculum at Aims prepares the student for a career in computer programming and game programming. The student begins with Logic and Program Design and progresses to C++ and Java programming languages.
UnixThe Unix curriculum is designed to give the student an understanding of using the Unix Operating System commands at the command line and administering modern graphical Unix interfaces.
Visual Basic Programming The VB Programming curriculum at Aims is comprised of two classes covering the key areas and topics of creating Windows based programs and applications. The students will be exposed to basic graphical program logic and design, and advanced concepts covering such areas as data arrays, database access, sequential files, and ASP web applications.
Web DevelopmentThe web development curriculum at Aims comprised of 4 classes covering the key areas of web site development.The student will be exposed to the entire gamut of web development topics from basic XHTML layout methods, tags, and cascading style sheets to creating dynamic web pages using Javascript and server-side scripting for database interaction using PHP and MySQL.
