Become a Volunteer, Change a Life With a little time and effort,
DUG volunteers make dramatic changes.
DUG relies on volunteers of all ages and skill levels to change and enhance urban neighborhoods. DUG gardens are constructed entirely with volunteer labor. Volunteer groups, corporations, schools and individuals are encouraged to join DUG in making a difference.
Your volunteer efforts help strengthen urban neighborhoods with the creation of community-based gardens and parks that impact thousands of individuals.
DUG Volunteer Days On Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays throughout the year, DUG staff and volunteers build and upgrade garden sites throughout the metro area. Typical tasks include building fence, grading, cement work, masonry, and soil preparation. Groups and individuals are encouraged to volunteer. Got a green thumb but don’t want to commit to a garden plot? DUG needs Green Thumb volunteers to offer “hands-on” assistance by teaching others to garden, compost and care for flowers, herbs and vegetable plants. Don't want to get dirty? DUG needs you! Volunteers are needed to help with special DUG events, community fairs and various exhibits and demonstrations. Volunteers are also needed to help out in the DUG office.
