Student Expectations and Responsibilities

You may be expected to complete course work to fulfill your high school curriculum requirements along with the college level curriculum. This will require more effort and work to meet the increased rigor of the Dual Credit classes.

  1. The college grades you earn in a Dual Credit course will become part of your permanent college record and the grades may affect you in various ways. For example, a poor grade in a course that is a prerequisite to another course would prevent you from enrolling in the secondary course.

  2. The ‘numeric to letter grade’ scales for your particular high school and Aims may differ. It may be possible to receive a passing high school grade while receiving a failing college grade or vice versa. High school policies apply regarding the awarding of high school grades. College policies apply regarding the awarding of college grades. Take time to become familiar with both policies. Aims policies can be found in the College Catalog.

  3. You will be expected to perform at the college level and to honor all deadlines declared by the College or your instructor. Pay careful attention to your instructor’s grading system. A course syllabus detailing class policies and specific course requirements are distributed by your instructor during the first week of class.

Note for online students: You must pay even more attention to your instructor’s policies since you will have an Aims instructor as opposed to your high school instructor.

  • Many college instructors do not allow you to repeat work to improve grades for poorly done assignments or exams. There may or may not be extra credit assignments to supplement your grade. You should not expect it.

  • You have the responsibility of staying current with the course.

  • “Class Attendance” is described by the instructor. This attendance may affect your overall grade.

  • Your online Aims grade is your high school grade. This may affect your GPA calculations for high school purposes.
  1. Aim s Community College has established a system of rights and responsibilities for students collectively known as the “Student Code of Conduct.”  It helps to explain students’ rights, responsibilities, grievances and complaints procedures, rules and regulations for general student behavior, discipline policies, and general guidelines that all students are expected to follow. Please review these rules found here.
