LTN 105: Research Strategies
This is a two (2) credit hour course the library offers as a
stand alone or in collaboration with a department or program
class.
Description and Goals:
The course is designed to provide students with efficient and
effective methods for researching topics. The goals include defining
a problem, learning research strategies, and evaluating sources.
When focused on a specific discipline or paired in collaboration
with a specific course (e.g., Criminal Justice, ENG 122, etc.),
the goals are defined within the context of the discipline and/or
its interdisciplinary subjects.
Outcomes:
Students will be able to-
- Have a better understanding of the impact of information
on his/her needs as a student, in the context of a specific
discipline/subject, and in today's world
- Define information needs for specific assignments
- Develop a plan to meet those needs
- Locate information
- Access print, non-print, and electronic resources
- Evaluate information
- Apply the access, retrieval, and management of information
sources to discipline-specific, class-specific, or general
information needs
