Renewing Library Materials

Returning Library Materials
Greeley Campus
The library maintains two safe return locations on the Greeley
campus. Materials may be returned at the book drop on the first
floor of the College Center, just inside the east doors.
Items may also be returned through the "Book Return" opening
at the Circulation Desk.
Do not attempt to return books at any other location on the Greeley
campus since they will not be protected from other patrons taking
them out still under your name. As long as items are under your
name, you are fully responsible for them except when materials
are returned to secure return locations.
Fort Lupton and Loveland Campuses
Loveland and Fort Lupton campus students who have checked out
materials from Kiefer Library may return their books securely by
presenting them to the Learning Resource Center's personnel and
indicating clearly that the books are to be returned to Kiefer
Library.
Interlibrary Loan Materials
Materials that we borrowed for you from other libraries (interlibrary
loans) must be returned to the Kiefer Library or through your campus
Learning Resource Center. Once you return an interlibrary loan,
we take the charge off your account, and the Kiefer Library assumes
complete responsibility for the safe return of the materials to
the owning library. If you attempt to return interlibrary loan
materials in any other way, you are fully responsible for replacing
the items should they get lost in transit or until both libraries
have agreed the materials are returned. This can take weeks, and
neither library is able to help you trace the items. Thus, it is
always our policy that you return interlibrary loans to Kiefer
Library.
Overdue and Lost Library Materials
Once materials are overdue, a system block is automatically charged
against your library account. You cannot check out other materials
as long as a block remains against your account. We will send you
three reminders of your overdue materials.
Community Patrons
If you are a community patron, after the third notice a block
is placed on your library account. You will no longer be able to
borrow library materials until the overdue materials are either
returned or paid for. In addition you are blocked from registering
for classes or receiving transcripts until the overdue materials
are returned or paid for.
Students
If you are a student, the third notice will indicate that a transcript
hold has been placed against your account. You may not borrow books
from the Library, nor may you register for classes or receive your
grades or transcripts until the materials have been returned or
paid for.
Late Fees
Kiefer Library does not assess overdue fines. You may return your
materials at any time and expect to pay no fines.
Replacement Costs and Processing Fees
Once you have decided you cannot locate the library materials
charged to your library card, you should plan to replace them.
Damaged materials, too, must be replaced. Before paying replacement
costs and fees, please consult us, as the standard replacement
cost and the actual replacement cost may differ. We will provide
you the actual dollar amount which will satisfy your obligation
and which you will pay at the Aims Cashier's office. Once we have
proof that you have done this, we will release your transcript
hold if you are a student, and we will remove the block from your
borrowing account.
Please call the Library at 970-339-6227 or 1-800-301-5388 ext.
6227 for specific details about your overdue library materials.
Paying for Lost Materials
Pay at the Aims Cashier's office in the General Services building
after getting the exact amount from the Library. Be sure to keep
your receipt in case you find the materials.
Important! Please Note:
Once you have paid for an item, it is yours to keep if the Library
has not already replaced the item either with an identical replacement
or a subject replacement.
Any qualifying refunds are issued by the College and can take
up to four weeks for you to receive. Contact the Library at 970-339-6227
or 1-800-301-5388 ext. 6227 for assistance.
