Entering college as a nontraditional student at age 27, Margaret received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville, where she graduated summa cum laude. After one year as a classroom aide and three years of teaching the language arts to seventh and eighth graders, she determined that she loved teaching students but not managing a group. Having spent most of her adult employment in institutions of higher learning, Dempsey joined Aims in spring of 2004, moving into college recruiting in fall 2005. Hereshe enjoys all the best parts of teaching but to an eager and receptive audience. At Aims, she has taught several sections of AAA 101 (Advanced Academic Achievement), and she currently serves as co-facilitator of the All College Action Committee. In addition to her responsibilities at Aims, Margaret co-owns Café Panache in downtown Greeley, an intimate café specializing in crepes.
