Colorado Residency Guidelines

The requirements for establishing residency for tuition purposes are defined by a statute of the State of Colorado Title 23, Article 7 101 to 107 C.R.S. 1973 as amended, Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE) regulations, and CCHE/ State Attorney General Guidelines.

It is the student’s responsibility to present all requested information and to meet the appropriate deadlines. Failure to provide all requested information/documents will result in an out-of-state classification.

There are very strict guidelines and timetables for submission of petitions for changes of classification to in-state. Petitions submitted after the deadlines will be reviewed the next term.

In-State tuition and the Western Undergraduate Exchange program (WUE) are subject to the regulations outlined in House Bill 1023. If you are petitioning for in-state tuition classification or applying for WUE, you will also need to provide proof of lawful presence in the U.S.

Western Undergraduate Exchange
Aims Community College participates in the Western Undergraduate Exchange Program (WUE) during this academic year. If you are eligible and approved for WUE tuition rates, you will pay reduced tuition rates equal to one and on-half times the normal out-of-district rates in place of the out-of-state rate.
