Colorado Residency Guidelines
The requirements for establishing residency for tuition purposes are
defined by a statute of the State of Colorado Title 23, Article 7 101
to 107 C.R.S. 1973 as amended, Colorado Commission on Higher Education
(CCHE) regulations, and CCHE/ State Attorney General Guidelines.
It is the student’s responsibility to present all requested information
and to meet the appropriate deadlines. Failure to provide all requested
information/documents will result in an out-of-state classification.
There are very strict guidelines and timetables for submission of petitions
for changes of classification to in-state. Petitions submitted after
the deadlines will be reviewed the next term.
In-State tuition and the Western Undergraduate Exchange program (WUE)
are subject to the regulations outlined in House
Bill 1023. If you are
petitioning for in-state tuition classification or applying for WUE,
you will also need to provide proof of lawful presence in the U.S.
