Procedures for Prospective and New Students Requesting Accommodations

Students who are enrolled in classes on any of Aims Community College campuses can receive academic accommodations at those locations.

Each new student who wishes to identify himself\herself as an individual with a disability should:

  • Complete the Aims Application for Admissions form.
  • Arrange and intake meeting with the Disability Access Services (DAS) at least four weeks prior the beginning of the term. If on the Greeley Campus, arrange an intake meeting with DAS by calling (970) 339-6388 (voice / TTY), or e-mailing disabilities@aims.edu. If attending any of Aims Community College Extension Campuses, arrange a phone intake meeting with the DAS at the contact information listed above.

To receive academic accommodations, each eligible student with a disability must:

  • Provide appropriate, up-to-date documentation (see Documentation Guidelines) which establishes
    • The existence of a disability and
    • Supports the request for academic accommodations, services, and/or auxiliary aids
  • Assist the institution in identifying appropriate academic accommodations, services, and/or auxiliary aids. The provisions of appropriate accommodations and services are collaboratively determined by the student and DAS staff at Aims Community College.

To ensure accommodations are available on the first day of class, each student with a disability must do the following by the deadline stated in the current Aims Semester Class Schedule:

  • Pick up Advising/Registration form
  • Consult with advisor
  • Register for classes
  • Proceed to DAS
  • Complete a Request for Accommodations Form and schedule an intake meeting.

DAS must be involved in the process of arranging accommodations and services for a qualified student with a disability seeking access to an educational program. If a new student’s documentation has been requested but has not been received by the beginning of the semester, temporary academic accommodations, services, and/or auxiliary aids may be arranged for that term.
