International Admissions

Attending Aims Community College will be an exciting step in your educational goals.  We recommend that you apply early to ensure all the required documents are submitted

Deadlines to submit applications for international students who are outside the U.S.:

Spring November 1st

Admissions Process:

  1. Apply for Admissions to Aims

    Complete the International Student Admissions Application.

    Your responses must be legible and in English.  Submitted applications are valid for one year following the semester you apply to Aims CC.  After one year, you must submit a new application and resubmit all required documents.

  2. Transcripts

    Official high school (secondary) transcripts.

    Official transcripts and certified English translations from high/secondary school. If only one original is available, a certified copy may be submitted.  Transcripts submitted become the property of International Admissions and will not be returned to the applicant. 

    Official transcript from each college/university attended (if applicable).

    Transcripts must be official. If only one original is available, an attested or certified copy may be submitted. If only one original is available, a certified copy may be submitted.

      • Transfer academic credits may be accepted after an Evaluation of Foreign Educational Credentials has been completed. Contact the international office for more information.
      • Transcripts submitted become the property of International Admissions and will not be returned to the applicant.
  3. Proof of English Language Proficiency

    We require all applicants whose first language is not English to adequately demonstrate English proficiency as part of the application process.  Students may demonstrate competency by submitting one of the following:

    Aims minimum TOFEL score of 57 internet-based or higher.  Aims institutional TOFEL code: 4204.  TOFEL scores are only valid for two years.

    Scores must be sent directly from the Educational Testing Service.

    IELTS (International English Language Testing System) an overall band score of a 5.5 or higher on the IELTS. Please contact the test center directly where you took the IELTS test and request that your official test scores are sent to the address below. We do not accept unofficial Test Report Forms from students. An institutional code is NOT required.  Test scores must be received by the admissions deadline.

    Applicants for the Intensive English program do not need to submit proof of English proficiency.  Students will be required to enroll into all four classes (Grammar, Reading, Writing, and Listening and Speaking).  If you have not completed college level Math and English at a U.S. college/university you will take a placement test in English, Mathematics and Reading to ensure you are placed into the correct level of course.  You may be required to enroll into College Preparatory courses.

    Substitutions to the TOEFL or IELTS are considered on a case-by-case basis.

  4. Proof of Financial Resources

    International Student Financial Support Statement (Admissions Packet). The Financial Support Statement must include your and your sponsor’s signatures.

    Provide a current bank statement and letter from the Bank demonstrating a minimum amount of $26,000 available to support your studies.  Financial statements must be original letters from the bank or financial institution.

    Applicants who are sponsored by a government agency or private company must provide a Financial Guarantee Letter for each semester you are at Aims Community College. Have a letter sent to the International advisor/DSO and the Cashier’s Office.  You are responsible for payment of tuition and fees until the letter has been received or your classes will be dropped.

    Financial documents must be dated within six (6) months of the term of enrollment.

    Applicants with dependents are required to have additional funds to cover a dependent’s living expenses. See the Financial Support Statement form for costs.

    A legible copy of the photo-page of your passport.  You must have a valid passport (with a validity date for at least six months after your proposed date of entry) for travel into the United States. It is your responsibility to maintain a valid passport.

  5. Proof of Health Insurance

    All international students are required to submit proof of health insurance coverage prior to registration of classes.

  6. Housing

    The college does not provide housing for students.  You are responsible for making housing arrangements.  There are many opportunities to rent an apartment or house.

Special Admissions

Co-enrolled students are international students who were issued an I-20s and an F-1 student visas from another college/university or a high school and plan to enroll for a class at Aims Community College.
