Whether you're here to get a degree, get a better job, or to transfer on to another college or university, an Aims education will provide you with an excellent academic foundation. You are investing many financial and personal resources to attend classes at Aims, and that's why we've developed the New Student Orientation - with your needs in mind.

New Students!  Register for your orientation session (CSL 178) on the Advising/Registration Form you receive during advising or via Web Services.  This is a free, one-time class.

You’ll get the information you need for buying books, getting your Student ID, understanding the syllabus and faculty requirements, and find-your-classes tours.  You’ll leave with “week one winners” for success.

1. Take the Assessment Test or meet Assessment Requirement
If you have prior college course work or appropriate ACT/SAT/Advanced Placement scores, you might be exempt (call ahead to inquire assessment hours: 970-339-6251)

2. Apply for Financial Aid if desired
This includes loans, grants, scholarships and student employment

3. Meet with Academic Advisor/Register for Classes
Call 970-339-6251 to make an appointment

4. Attend a New Student Orientation
Register to attend an orientation session during your advising appointment (during step #3). Call 970-339-6563 for more information.

5. Pay tuition or make down payment

All new students are encouraged to attend a New Student Orientation program held prior to the semester they plan to attend Aims. The orientation programs are held on each of three Aims campuses and include information about academic requirements, tips from current students, find-your-classes tours and professor requirements. Connect to Aims and to other new students at Connections!
