TRiO Scholarship

The Student Support Services TRiO Scholarship award is a competitive scholarship awarded by each program to SSS students receiving high academic achievement along with the satisfaction of specific program requirements. To be eligible to compete for a TRiO Scholarship, students participating in the Student Support Services Program must meet the following requirements:

TRiO SSS Classic Program

  • Must be eligible for Pell Grant as deemed by federal guidelines
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.4 AND a semester grade point average of 2.4.
  • Must be enrolled and attend classes at Aims during the semester in which grant is awarded.
  • Must complete financial literacy requirements on www.cicmoney101.org
  • Must attend a minimum of two advising sessions per semester with assigned academic advisor.
  • Must complete a minimum of two of the following (students MUST sign in to receive credit for services): iFocus! Workshops, Writers' Community, 7 Habits Workshop, Student Support Services sponsored workshops; Transfer Initiatives, Tutoring, Strengths Quest Workshop, Helping Hands, etc. See you advisor for details and additional opportunities for activities.

TRiO SSS STEM Program

Tier 1

  • Must be eligible for Pell Grant as deemed by federal guidelines
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.4 AND a semester grade point average of 2.4.
  • Must be enrolled and attend classes at Aims during the semester in which grant is awarded.
  • Must complete financial literacy requirements on www.cicmoney101.org
  • Must attend a minimum of two advising sessions per semester with assigned academic advisor.
  • Must complete a minimum of two of the following (students MUST sign in to receive credit for services): iFocus! Workshops, Writers' Community, 7 Habits Workshop, Student Support Services sponsored workshops; Transfer Initiatives, Tutoring, Strengths Quest Workshop, Helping Hands, etc. See you advisor for details and additional opportunities for activities.

Tier 2 (dependent on Tier 1 participation)

  • Must be eligible for Pell Grant as deemed by federal guidelines
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.4 AND a semester grade point average of 2.4.
  • Must be enrolled and attend classes at Aims during the semester in which grant is awarded.
  • Must attend an advising session per semester with assigned academic advisor.
  • Must complete at least one of the following:
    • Must complete financial literacy requirements on www.cicmoney101.org
    • Must complete a minimum of one of the following (students MUST sign in to receive credit for services): iFocus! Workshops, Writers' Community, 7 Habits Workshop, Student Support Services sponsored workshops; Transfer Initiatives, Tutoring, Strengths Quest Workshop, Helping Hands, etc. See your advisor for details and additional opportunities for activities.

Final awards will be distributed competitively based on the above requirements and participation in the program. Final discretion of the awards will be determined by the program director. The award is not guaranteed in subsequent years; eligibility requirements must be met each year in order to compete.
