About Us
The Student Support Services Program (SSS) provides academic support
to 280 new and continuing Aims students. In fall 2010, Student Support Services received a second grant to serve 120 additional students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) majors (complete list of STEM majors).
The goal of the program
is to provide the additional support necessary to increase the
graduation rates of students in the program.
Through this free program,
students receive:
- Academic Advising
- Tutoring
- Mentoring
- Workshops
- AAA 101 class specifically for SSS students
- Career and Major Exploration
- College Transfer Preparation
- Scholarships for eligible students
Students must meet eligibility requirements in order to participate in the program:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or registered permanent resident. The student must be accepted for enrollment or currently enrolled at Aims Community College to receive services.
- Be a first generation college student (neither parent has received a bachelor’s degree); or
- Be low income according to federal guidelines; or
- Have a documented disability.
- Must demonstrate a need for academic support.
