Aims Community College: What makes your department the best?
Ann Grotness: Our enthusiasm for everything that goes on at Aims—Dr. Bornstein, Carrie, Liaison to the Board of Trustees, and I love what we do! We very much appreciate having the opportunity to work with the most amazing teams—employees, the Board of Trustees, students, and the communities we serve.
ACC: What makes a student successful?
AG: Commitment to their goal/s and the willingness to learn new things about their area of study, about themselves, and about the world.
ACC: What is your proudest achievement?
AG: Something people might not know is that all three “Grotness Girls” are Aims graduates (we even have our own bench along the promenade on the Greeley campus!). Daughter Amy graduated from Aims the same year that I did…and both of us went on to graduate with our Bachelor’s from Regis University. After daughter Julie graduated from Aims, she received her teaching degree from UNC. My only regret is that my mom, who was the first in her farming family to graduate from college (hint—GO BIG RED!), wasn’t here to witness our accomplishments.
ACC: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
AG: I love to spend time with my family and friends camping, hiking, snowshoeing, and traveling near and far.
ACC: Best thing about being an Executive Assistant to the President?
AG: I love the variety in my job—no two days/weeks/months/years are ever the same!
