Aims Community College: What is a day in the life of an Executive Vice President like
for you?
Russ Rothamer: While every day is different, each day I get to focus on how to best provide support
for the success of our students, staff and faculty.
ACC: What makes your department the best?
RR: Similar to the other departments at Aims Community College, we strive to partner with
our colleagues across the college community to provide an enriching and seamless experience
that leads to student success.
ACC: What makes a student successful?
RR: Students are successful when they actively engage in the opportunities they are provided
to reach their personal goals whether it is training, a course, a certificate or a
degree.
ACC: What is your proudest achievement?
RR: I had the opportunity to work with amazing professionals that were tasked with creating
a world-class living, learning and earning experience as part of the Walt Disney World
College Program. The curriculum we created allowed students to earn credit from a
college or university while working for The Happiest Place on Earth.
ACC: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
RR: In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three daughters. More specifically,
those family adventures that involve hiking, biking and/or kayaking. I also enjoy
playing golf, but that is usually an endeavor that I do with friends.
ACC: Best thing about being the Executive Vice President?
RR: The best part of my role is working with the college and community to help create
an educational experience that truly has the opportunity to change lives. I was fortunate
to have had amazing support from faculty and staff during my community college experience
that helped create a foundation for future success in higher education and the workplace.
It is an honor and a privilege to help create those same opportunities for others
that I was given.
