Aims Community College acknowledges that the institution signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement and assures that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
Aims Community College received $1,270,594 from the Department of Education in CARES Act Emergency Financial Aid funds for grants to students.
Aims Community College has distributed the following in CARES Act Emergency Financial Aid grant funds to students as of August 11, 2020: $611,500.
The total estimated number of students eligible to participate under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 at Aims Community College as of May 2020 is 1,731 students.
The total number of students as of August 11, 2020 that have received CARES Act Emergency Financial Aid grants is 1,022.
Aims Community College awarded students who met eligibility under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 $600 each. The college also created an application for all other students who met eligibility under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 where they could apply for COVID 19-related funds for up to $600 each.
Aims Community College provided two forms of communication to students concerning the Emergency Financial Aid Grants. The first one was to the students who were auto awarded grants. The second was for students about completing the grant application. Those instructions can be found here. Information was provided via normal institutional communication channels including newsletters, email, and on the student web page.
