A.A. Degree: Early Childhood Education Statewide Articulation Agreement-60 credits

This degree is designed to provide students with a seamless transfer into one of several four-year institutions in Colorado in order to earn a Bachelor’s degree.  The program includes Kindergarten-Grade 3 Teacher Licensure.  This program is designed to prepare students for positions in private preschools, small and large child care centers, child development centers, Head Start programs, before and after school programs, summer day camps, infant nurseries, inclusive child care centers, and family child care homes.  Work experience for most positions is required.

A.G.S Degree – Special Education Track – 60 credits

This degree prepares the student to work as a professional in a variety of capacities in early childhood education.  Research supports the importance of high quality, early childhood programs which impact children’s development throughout their school years.  One of the most important influences is the teacher.  This AGS degree will transfer to UNC for the Special Education: Early Childhood program.  Work experience for most positions is required.

Degree Requirements: Associate of General Studies, ECE Special Education Track (2 years)

A.A.S Degree: Early Childhood Education – 62-63 credits

This degree is designed to provide training for a career involving the care and education of young children from birth through age eight.  This program continues the academic requirements for the assistant director and director position as described in the ECE Certificate Program.  Our faculty can facilitate your learning experience for specialized practicum courses for Infant/Toddler Care and/or Children with Special Needs.  The faculty have the knowledge and passion needed to help students grow.  They are dedicated to student success.  Work experience for most positions is required.

Certificates

Child Care Center Director Certificate – 30 credits

This certificate will prepare students for early childhood director positions in early childhood care and education settings.  Coursework covers curriculum development, child growth and development, and administrative skills.  Upon completion, students will have met academic requirements as an Early Childhood Director.  Additional work experience is required for complete certification.

Early Childhood Teacher, Beginning Certificate – 12 credits

This certificate meets the educational requirements for Early Childhood Teachers in Colorado; work experience is also required.  This program provides students with the knowledge, techniques, and strategies to become qualified to be an early childhood teacher in Colorado.  It satisfies the educational requirements for the Childhood Development Associate (CDA) a national credential awarded by The Council of Professional Recognition (cdacouncil.org).  Colorado child care licensing recognizes the CDA as meeting Early Childhood Teacher qualifications.

Early Childhood Teacher, Intermediate Certificate – 18 credits

This certificate meets the advanced educational requirements for Early Childhood Teachers in Colorado; work experience is also required.  This program provides students with the knowledge, techniques, and strategies to become qualified to be an early childhood teacher in Colorado.

Great Beginnings Certificate – 9 credits

This specialized certificate is for individuals who desire to work with infants, toddlers or young children with special needs.

Infant/Toddler Teacher Certificate – 10 credits

This certificate program provides students with a solid foundation in the growth and development of infants and toddlers, plus advanced exposure in developing and implementing appropriate nurturing and developmental experiences.  This certificate satisfies the educational requirements for Infant Nursery Supervisor positions in child care centers. Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate applicable in certain child care settings including Head Start.

Early Childhood Education Certificate – 27 credits

This certificate provides students with a wide range of knowledge and skills needed to form a solid foundation in the area of early childhood growth and development. Make a difference in a young child’s life by choosing a certificate in Early Childhood Education.  The experienced faculty at Aims have the expertise to provide a quality certificate program that will provide the student with the skills and knowledge to work in childcare centers or schools. Work experience for most positions is required.
