We recommend you call United Way of Weld County at (970) 353-4300. They can provide the information you need for becoming a licensed family child care provider. Our ECE classes can enhance that training and serve as continuing education for you. The training for a specialized family child care home license for caring for three infants under the age of two is ECE 111 Infant and Toddler Theory and Practices.
You need to be director qualified, according to the Colorado Department of Human Services,
Office of Early Childhood. The requirements include the courses listed in our Director
Certificate, plus 1,960 hours of verifiable experience working with young children.
In order to be Early Childhood Teacher qualified, Colorado Child Care licensing requires a minimum of two college courses in Early Childhood Education and two years of experience. The more college courses you complete, the fewer hours of experience you need to have. Talk to an Aims advisor to learn about appropriate courses. Early Childhood Teacher Chart
If you wish to transfer courses from another college, you need to request a transcript from that college and have it forwarded to Aims. If you have questions, please contact and Early Childhood Education advisor.
Yes, this comprehensive 48-hour training is our ECE 111 Infant Toddler Theory and Practice course. Successful completion of the training requirements earns participants the Colorado State Certificate. This course meets the training requirements specific to infant nursery supervisor (additional experience is necessary) and the specialized family child care licenses. The training is offered for a small fee. However, if you wish to earn Aims college credit you must enroll in ECE 111 and pay applicable tuition and fees.
