Sterile Instrument Processing


Sterile Instrument Processing Technicians work in the Sterile Processing Department of a hospital.  Their primary function is the cleaning, decontamination and sterilization of the surgical instrumentation, scopes and specialty equipment for both the operating room and the hospital at large. 

The job outlook is in high demand for certified Sterile Instrument Processing Technicians in northern Colorado and nationwide.  Students will be prepared to sit for the certification exam which will make them more employable.

Currently there are no other community colleges in Colorado which offer this type of certification.  The coursework has been recommended by IAHCSMM (International Association of Health Care Central Sterile Material Management.)
