Sterile Instrument Processing


The Sterile Processing Technician is a member of a team of skilled Central Service professionals who worked diligently to ensure that hospital equipment and surgical instrumentation are well functioning, properly decontaminated, sterilized and available when needed. The Sterile processing Technician plays a critical role in the delivery of safe, top quality patient care. Coursework will include fundamentals of infection control, medical terminology, basic anatomy and surgical instrumentation. Extensive hands on training in instrument processing and assembly, decontamination and sterilization and specialty surgical equipment is provided. The Sterile processing lab offers hands on training on current sterilization equipment and supplies.

The job outlook is in high demand for certified Sterile Instrument Processing Technicians in northern Colorado and nationwide.  Students will be prepared to sit for the certification exam which will make them more employable.

The coursework has been recommended by IAHCSMM (International Association of Health Care Central Sterile Material Management.)
