  • General Studies

    Associate of General Studies
    This degree is unique because the field of study is determined by the student in consultation with a faculty advisor. Each student must develop a written statement of goals and objectives and specific courses needed to satisfy those objectives and will also complete general education courses.
  • Geography

    Associate of Arts
    Learn about the relationship between environments and human societies, the principles of topography, climate, natural resources, patterns of population and settlement, religion, ethnicity, language and economic development. Study globalization and the geopolitical and economic relationships between more developed and less developed regions. This is a liberal arts degree with designation (DWD).
  • Geology

    Associate of Science
    Combine lecture courses with hands-on laboratory time to study Earth’s materials, structure, and surface landforms, geologic time and the geologic processes responsible for Earth’s internal and external features. Learn about the development of Earth through geologic time along with an investigation and interpretation of sedimentary rocks and features, the record of ancient environments, fossil life forms and physical events in Earth’s history within the framework of plate tectonics. This is a liberal arts degree with designation (DWD).
  • Learn how to use industry standard software with this graphic design certificate program. Advance your skills by also learning typography and layout.
  • Graphic Design and Rich Media

    Associate of Applied Science
    Learn web fundamentals for graphic designers, including HTML and web design and do a deep dive into Adobe design software used by industry professionals. Practice everything you’ve learned and build a portfolio you can show to potential employers and choose between an internship with a local company and an in-depth web presentation software class.
  • Learn basic and advanced graphic design techniques, including photo manipulation and drawing tools. Learn to use Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, the software most commonly used by graphic designers.
  • Learn various foundational skills that support the work animators do, including digital effects, sound design, sculpting for digital media and motion graphic design. All course credits for this two-semester certificate can apply toward the two-year animation degree program at Aims.
  • History

    Associate of Arts
    Study events, peoples, groups, ideas, institutions and trends that have shaped World History, Western Civilization, and North America and the United States to the present. Learn about these time periods through the perspectives of gender, class, and ethnicity while developing, practicing and strengthening the skills historians use while constructing knowledge in this discipline. This is a liberal arts degree with designation (DWD).

    Associate of Arts
    Learn how to clearly, accurately and fairly report media news while creating journalistic pieces for internet-based media. This comprehensive 2-year liberal arts program prepares students to go on to complete a bachelor's degree at a 4-year school as they embark on a future career in journalism. This is a liberal arts degree with designation (DWD).

    This degree is for students seeking a general education. Students work with an advisor to develop an education plan that meets their goals as they prepare to transfer credits to a four-year college or university.
