Each academic department lists the most commonly encountered physical, cognitive, communication, behavioral and other skills typically necessary to be successful in a particular program or area of interest.
These are used as talking points to help someone with a disability better understand the expectations within a specific program and what accommodations they may require to be successful. The information contained on each essential skills sheet is not all-inclusive and is intended to be used as a guideline only. Individual programs may have specific requirements or technical standards that must be met.
