Personal Interest Checklist

how to get started:

Step 1 - Apply for Admission to Aims

Complete the online application, or apply in person at any Aims location. On your application be sure to select, "Will not graduate or transfer, but will take classes for personal interest only."

Step 2 - Complete Orientation & Assessment, if needed

Complete the online New Student Orientation 

The online New Student Orientation will help you get off to a good start at Aims. This is not mandatory for students taking classes for personal interest, but it may be helpful in explaining how things work at Aims.

Assess for college placement or provide transcripts 

Assessment is only required for courses with prerequisites such as English, math and science. Assessment is not required for courses such as physical education, art, or conversational foreign language.

There are multiple options to share your assessment background:

Additional measures include the PARCC**, GED**, HISET**, TASC** and Accuplacer*. Please see the Assessment page for more information. You may send your transcripts or test scores to assessment@aims.edu.

* Scores are valid for a period of three years from the date taken.
** Grades must be within the past 10 years.

Step 3 - Register

Register for Classes

Register online using the internal website “myAims”.   

If you are interested in auditing a class, you will also need to complete an Audit Request Form

Step 4 - Pay Tuition & Fees

Step 5 - Prepare for Classes

Buy books and supplies in the Aims bookstore or online.

Get a Student ID Card and Parking permit at the Student Leadership and Development Office:

GREELEY & WINDSOR: Visit the Greeley Student Leadership and Development Office, College Center, Rm. 130.*
FORT LUPTON LOVELAND: Visit the campus to get your student ID card.

*Windsor students can obtain a parking permit at the Windsor Campus Safety desk in the WPSI.
