Skills developed will be for computer applications, written communications, records management, administrative office management and more. Students can choose from five different emphasis options in this degree path.
A student may also choose to earn a Business Technology, Advanced Office Specialist, Multimedia Skill Enhancement or Word Processing Skill Enhancement certificate. These certificates will allow you to upgrade your current skills, apply for job advancement or to enter a specific sector of the business field.
This degree pathway prepares individuals to launch a successful career as an administrative or secretarial assistant in a health-care setting, such as a medical doctor’s office, eye doctor, hearing specialist, medical clinic or hospital. Skills are developed in computer applications, written communication, medical office procedures, financial management, insurance billing, medical coding (ICD-10 Edition), Physicians Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding and transcribing medical reports. In addition, students learn basic human anatomy.
A student may also earn an Introduction to Medical Transcription and Coding or a Business Technology - Medical Transcription and Coding Certificate which will provide you job entry skills in the medical field.
